The Boston Bruins and  announced today a multi-year partnership agreement naming Beth Israel Lahey Health as the Official Healthcare Partner of the Boston Bruins.

The partnership will bring together two pillars of the New England community, uniting the Bruins and BILH, with a focus on community engagement and education through health and wellness campaigns.

“The Boston Bruins are excited to welcome Beth Israel Lahey Health to the Bruins family as the Official Healthcare Partner of the Boston Bruins,” said Boston Bruins Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Glen Thornborough. “Through this multi-year partnership with BILH, we’re looking forward to leveraging our combined expertise to create a positive impact in the communities we serve through meaningful programming, raising health and wellness awareness and recognizing the providers and caretakers on the frontline every day.

“BILH and the Bruins share a commitment to teamwork, excellence and our communities, and we look forward our new partnership,” said Kevin Tabb, MD, President & CEO, Beth Israel Lahey Health. “Together, we will work to engage patients and their families through health education and other local initiatives to help create healthier communities, one person at a time.”

BILH is one of the largest health systems in New England, serving 2.1 million patients across eastern Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire. The system encompasses 14 hospitals, more than 100 primary care practices, ambulatory and behavioral health facilities, urgent care centers, and other sites. BILH hospitals and clinicians are consistently recognized for the high-quality care they provide, including by U.S. News & World Report’s Best Hospitals and Boston Magazine’s Top Doctors lists.

BILH will serve as the presenting sponsor of the Bruins’ annual Hockey Fights Cancer Night, an annual initiative aimed at uniting the global hockey community through storytelling and events to support cancer research and to educate and empower fans to learn more about cancer risks.

The Bruins and BILH will host several community engagement events throughout the year, including youth hockey clinics in communities served by BILH locations. Bruins youth hockey clinics are designed to increase skill development and create opportunities for youth hockey players throughout New England.

Additionally, BILH will provide support for and help expand the Bruins Boston Bruins Learn to Play program, an initiative that introduces children between the ages of 5-9 to the fundamentals of the game and helps them develop their skills. Families involved in the Learn to Play program receive a full set of hockey equipment, including skates and personalized fittings, along with four weeks of on-ice instruction from certified coaches and Bruins alumni.

The Bruins and BILH will collaborate on hospital and event visits across BILH locations, bringing current Bruins players and coaches, Bruins alumni and Bruins mascot Blades to interact with BILH staff and patients.
