SNL’s Rachel Dratch took to social media on Wednesday to share a stunning sunrise performance by acclaimed cellist Yo-Yo Ma in Hanover, New Hampshire.

“Sharing this moment of peace and beauty on the Connecticut River at sunrise. Listen in and calm your spirit!” Dratch wrote on Instagram.

Dratch, a Lexington-native and graduate of Dartmouth College, called the performance “a true highlight.”

The event, held on Oct. 18, was part of Dartmouth College’s Arts Weekend Celebration from Oct. 17 through Oct. 19. The weekend-long event celebrated the “expanded and reimagined Hopkins Center and launched a new era of the Arts at Dartmouth,” according to the college’s website.

The sunrise performance took place on the banks of the Connecticut River “to greet the dawn” and welcome Ma and his collaborators – who are called the “We Are Water” artists – as part of the reopening of the Hopkins Center.

Ma is a 2025-2026 fellowship at Dartmouth, and like Dratch, also has Massachusetts ties. The famed cellist moved to Boston as a child and later graduated from Harvard College.
