NEW BOSTON – New Boston Huron’s softball team ignored small ball to get a big win.

As Huron prepared to bat in the bottom of the seventh inning of a 3-3 tie with Flat Rock, coach Tedi Belisle huddled with Madison Kuzara.

The sophomore was told that if the lead-off hitter got on base, she would be called upon to bunt.

“She said, ‘But coach, I’m seeing beach balls right now,’” Belisle said. “I said, ‘Swing away kid.’”

The first batter didn’t get on base, but Kuzara did indeed swing away.
