CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College Volleyball (10-5, 1-3 ACC) dropped its final contest of the four-game homestand (19-25, 12-25, 18-25) to No. 5 SMU (12-2, 4-0 ACC) on Sunday afternoon.

Audrey Ross led the Boston College attack with a match-high 16 kills on a .211 hitting percentage. Brooklyn Yelland anchored the defense with a team-leading seven digs, while Lucie Vesela (nine assists) and Ava McBride (eight assists) handled primary setting duties.

The opening set featured competitive early action, with eight ties and four lead changes. Boston College gained a 9-8 advantage after a Reese Dunkle kill and a solo block from Ross. The Eagles remained close down the stretch, pulling within a point at 19-18 following a kill by Ross. However, SMU closed out the set on a 6-1 run to take the frame, 25-19.

SMU established momentum early in the second set, racing out to a 5-0 lead. A Sam Hoppes kill got the Eagles on the board, but the Mustangs maintained high offensive accuracy throughout the frame. Capitalizing on a late surge that included a service ace and consecutive blocks, SMU pulled away to take the set 25-12.

Boston College generated strong momentum in the third set, which included six ties and four lead changes. Trailing early, the Eagles used a 3-0 spurt with kills from Laney Blevins and Sofija Marjanovic to go ahead 8-7. Boston College then leveled the score at 14-14 following an SMU attack error, but the Mustangs responded with a 3-0 mini-run to retake a 17-14 advantage. SMU held off late BC kills from Ross to close out the frame 25-18 and finalize the 3-0 match victory.
