Boston College recorded 13 shots throughout the match, including four on goal, and earned six corner kicks. Sophie Reale led the Eagles with four shots, while Addison Kalaw added three shots, including two on target. Georgina Clarke also recorded two shots, with one on goal.
The Eagles controlled the majority of the opportunities in the opening half, registering eight shots and four corner kicks. California broke through in the 36th minute when Reese Doherty scored off an assist from Miriam Hils, giving the Golden Bears a 1-0 advantage heading into halftime.
Boston College continued to pressure in the second half, recording five additional shots and two corner kicks, but California goalkeeper Alyssa Savig made three saves to preserve the shutout.
In goal, Olivia Shippee played all 90 minutes and recorded three saves.
The Eagles return to action on Sunday, Sept. 27, traveling to Clemson for a 1 p.m. ACC matchup.
