BRIGHTON, Mass. — The Boston College Baseball team has added 10 transfers entering the 2027 season as announced by head coach Todd Interdonato. The class includes six position players and four pitchers.
Nick “Sarge” Quagliato, a native of Neptune, N.J., dominated at Fairleigh Dickinson and was recently named All-NECBL, playing for the Upper Valley Nighthawks. The right-handed hitting catcher slashed .331/.405/.557 with 12 extra-base hits, seven home runs, and 35 RBIs at FDU. He also recorded 10 stolen bases and finished with an OPS of .962. On the defensive end, Quagliato caught nine runners stealing last season.
Corner infielder/outfielder Jeremy Sheffield makes his way up north after hitting .321 last season at Georgetown University. In 55 games played, he recorded 19 extra-base hits, 16 stolen bases, walked 42 times, and only struck out 35 times. Sheffield finished with an OPS of .891. A native of St. Louis, MO, Sheffield played nine games on the Cape this summer with a .286 average for the Orleans Firebirds.
Brodey Bitove is a left-handed hitting outfielder coming to BC from Indiana University. The Toronto, ON native is coming off an impressive summer in the New England Collegiate Baseball League as he played for the Ocean State Waves. In 21 games over the summer, Bitove hit .270 with eight extra-base hits and five stolen bases. He walked 17 times with an OPS of .892. Bitove spent his freshman campaign at Pepperdine University before going to IU.
The Eagles also added versatile utility man Gus Gregory from Wright State. Gregory, from Strongsville, OH, is a grad transfer choosing to finish his collegiate career at Boston College after accumulating a very impressive resume. In 522 plate appearances, Gregory slashed .305/.407/.477 and scored 99 runs. Hitting from the left side, he finished with 43 extra-base hits, 92 RBIs, and stole 25 bags.
Boston College continued to add to the infield with the addition of Will Matuszak, a right-handed hitter from Los Angeles, CA. In 87 total games played at Santa Barbara City College, Matuszak hit .357/.470/.575. He recorded 43 extra-base hits and had a walk-to-strikeout ratio of 64:67. What stands out the most was his 68 stolen bases. Matuszak finished with just under 300 plate appearances in the Northwoods League this summer.
Luke Hewes is the second catcher the Eagles added from the transfer portal. Hewes hit .298 with eight HRs, 42 RBIs, 47 runs scored, and six stolen bases in 2026 with South Mountain Community College. With versatility in the outfield, he played his first season of collegiate ball at Mesa CC. Hailing from Flagstaff, AZ, Hewes hit .345 with 57 hits, 38 runs, six home runs, two triples, six doubles at Mesa Community College. He also knocked in 43 runs, walked 19 times, and stole five bases.
On the pitching side of things, the Eagles added four right-handed pitchers. Graduate transfer Ben Cherico comes from Saint Louis University, where he made 14 starts, accumulating a total of 84 innings pitched in 2026. He struck out 76, walked 31, and finished the season with a 3.21 ERA. From Ridgefield, Conn., Cherico was named A-10 Second Team All-Conference as a starter last season.
Champ Davis, from Atlanta, Ga., made 23 appearances in 2026 for the Wofford College Terriers, finishing with 45.1 innings pitched, 39 strikeouts, 21 walks, and a 4.17 ERA. The season before, he threw half of the year, totaling 32 innings. He struck out 32 while only walking seven with a 1.97 ERA. Davis is experienced as a reliever with eight career saves and 110.1 innings pitched.
The Eagles also secured two transfers out of the Big Ten conference in Graduate transfer Brayden Ryan from the University of Maryland and Junior transfer Matthew Kouser from Northwestern University. Ryan is a versatile pitcher with the ability to be a starter (27 starts) and as a reliever (21 appearances out of the pen). From Salem, NH, Ryan tossed 85.2 innings, struck out 70, and walked 31 in two seasons.
Kouser, however, has more experience as a weekend starter. In two seasons for Northwestern, the Haddonfield, N.J. native started 26 games with a total of 128 innings pitched. Last season, Kouser threw 66.1 innings to a 5.02 ERA. He struck out a total of 77 batters at Northwestern.
