Eagles Face Two Ranked Opponents as They Open ACC Play

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College field hockey (2-4) opens ACC play against No. 16 Louisville (4-2) on Friday before traveling to Columbus to face No. 20 Ohio State (4-2) on Sunday.

WEEKEND RECAP

Boston College split its weekend slate, earning a 5-0 shutout over Maine on Friday before falling to No. 3 Harvard, 2-1, on Sunday.

The Eagles opened the weekend in impressive fashion, outshooting Maine, 33-3, including a 21-1 advantage in shots on goal. Five different Eagles found the back of the cage in the shutout.

Boston College battled No. 3 Harvard on Sunday, with freshman Ike Jakobsen scoring her first collegiate goal in the third quarter to bring the Eagles within one. Charlotte Kramer made nine saves in the contest.

GOALIE ON WATCH

Kramer returns for her senior season between the posts, looking to add to her place in the Boston College record books.

Kramer currently ranks 10th all-time with 20 career wins and three shutouts. Last season, she posted a 1.40 goals-against average, ranking among the top 10 single-season marks in program history.

Through six games this season, Kramer has recorded 25 saves with a .694 save percentage and a 1.94 goals-against average. Her nine saves against Harvard marked a season high.

FRESHY FRESH

Six freshmen have recorded significant minutes for the Eagles this season, with Jakobsen, Maren Boyle and Carmen Chiu starting each game.

It was a big weekend for the first-year Eagles, as Jakobsen scored her first collegiate goal against No. 3 Harvard to bring BC within one.

Regan Welsh also recorded her first collegiate goal against Maine, while Arianna Fragomeni made her first appearance in the Maroon and Gold in the fourth quarter, helping the Eagles preserve the shutout.

THE GOALS

Seven Eagles have found the back of the cage this season, led by Klara Mueffelmann and Alex De Cain with three goals apiece.

Caroline Chisholm has added two goals and an assist, while Jakobsen and Welsh each recorded their first collegiate goals over the weekend.

THE OPPONENTS

No. 16 Louisville

Friday marks the 15th meeting between Boston College and Louisville and the Eagles’ first ACC matchup of the season.

Boston College earned its lone conference win of 2025 against the Cardinals, defeating Louisville in a shootout on Senior Day.

Louisville enters Friday’s matchup with a 4-2 record and a No. 16 ranking in the latest NFHCA poll. The Cardinals are coming off losses to No. 1 Northwestern, 3-1, and No. 2 Iowa, 4-2.

Six different players have scored for Louisville this season, led by Tyler Everslage and Annabel Sep with three goals apiece. Emily Young has spent the majority of the time in goal, recording 33 saves with a .786 save percentage.

The Cardinals return 16 letterwinners from last season, including All-ACC selection Annabel Sep and USWNT U21 Team member Lauren Masters, while welcoming eight newcomers.

No. 20 Ohio State

Boston College will travel to Columbus on Sunday for its fourth meeting with Ohio State and the first matchup between the Eagles and Buckeyes since 2006.

Ohio State enters the latest NFHCA poll at No. 20 and owns a 4-2 record after earning home victories over Delaware and Cornell. The Buckeyes also picked up an early-season upset over No. 5 Virginia.

Sienna Golden leads Ohio State with five goals and 10 points, while Emily Barker has added three goals, including a two-goal performance against Delaware for her first career multi-goal game.
