The 2025 MIAA high school girls soccer season saw some juggernauts return to the mountaintop, while others are still chasing a championship.

In Div. 1, Natick returned to the championship game and sealed the deal with a 4-2 victory over Franklin. The RedHawks lost the star power in sisters Lydia and Nicole Proia, who are now taking to the pitch at Seton Hall.

Now, the task of leading the program belongs to strikers Emilia Souza and Kerrington Sheriff, who gained valuable experience last year as depth scoring options and now will be main targets.

Franklin will look to get back to the state final and turn around the result this time. Lily Strong (Fairfield) and Phoebe Cuneo should be expected to lead the attack, while Claire Michel and Fiona Stuehler return from injuries and will bolster the depth at attack. Other notable returners include captains Sophia Horton, Laila Rosen and BB Vallee.

Last year’s top seed was Needham, which fell in the quarterfinals to Belmont. Captains Emery Carr and Izzy Marino will be tasked with leading the Rockets back to the top of the power rankings within Div. 1 and the Bay State Conference. Needham also returns most of its starters from last year, including three seniors and six juniors.

Belmont reached the semifinals after knocking out the Rockets and hope Cassie Grenier, Madavies Ramada and Martha Dilma can lead the team deep once again.

Concord-Carlisle should also be a threat, with eight returning seniors and 16 overall returners. This includes Emmy O’Donnell, Ainsley Siefer (Middlebury commit) and Catherine Kilmartin (Boston College commit).

Bishop Feehan will also be in the mix, returning eight starters from last year’s team. This includes captains MC Thorp and Addie Hansbury, as well as leading scorers Quinn Dwomoh and Tia LaBrecque.

In Div. 2, Duxbury looks to repeat after winning its first state title since 2008. The Dragons return seniors Regan Donovan, Lilah MacQuarrie, Liv Coeperine, Grey Metzler and Anna Manganello to pair with sophomores Tierney Murphy and Emma MacDonald in a competitive Patriot League.

Out of the Northeastern Conference, Masconomet fell to Duxbury in the state semifinals after winning it all in 2024. With 13 seniors, including captains Ada Paglierani, Lily Blosser (committed to Maryland), Maggie Blosser (committed to Maryland) and Sadie Morris, the Chieftains will be a tough team to oust come tournament time.

King Philip of the Hockomock League has the likes of Ella McDonald, Donnelle Balunos, Molly Morgan and Ava Quintin to try and make it again to the state semifinals.

In Div. 3, Medfield avenged a 2024 state championship loss with a 1-0 victory over Nipmuc. The Warriors return key contributors in Sidney Heavey (UCF), Devon Weafer (Florida), Audrey Grandinetti (Quinnipiac) and Lyla Manning (Lehigh).

Norwell should also be a contender and will rely on Ally Kelley, Hannah Morse, Kelsey Tuttle and Amelia Dowd to lift the Clippers to the top.

Patriot League contender Hanover will also be a dark horse, with Callie Delaney and Emme Brinkman being key returners. Sophomore Kacey Godfrey will look to build on an impressive first-year campaign, while Ella McLory, Kiki Carroll, Bella Johnson and Vega Mofford will also be in significant roles.

In Div. 4, Sutton won the championship and should remain a top contender to repeat. Cohasset is among the favorites to push for a title after reaching the semifinals in 2025. Despite losing eight seniors, the Skippers return a lot of production, including Georgia Royston (Northwestern Lacrosse), Molly Campbell, Brynn Dwyer, Molly Doherty, Zoe Evans and Regan Brinzey.

Hamilton-Wenham should also be in the mix, with Dusty Romiza leading the offensive production and Emma Hughes locking it down in the midfield.

Hull claimed the Div. 5 championship and should be a top contender to repeat. However, a rising team will be St. John Paul II, which will look to replace 13 seniors. The Lions will look to Ariel Thompson, Alexzana DePaula, Mia Medeiros and Ellie Collette to lead the team back to the postseason before gearing up for a major run in 2027.
