The world’s best women’s basketball players are headed to Berlin, Germany, this weekend to kick off the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup.
This year’s bracket will expand back to 16 international squads, four more than the tournament featured in 2022, but the same amount it has typically had since 1990. As usual, the competition will get started with a round-robin group stage, and then continue on to eliminations.
Team USA has been a consistent threat in this tournament, winning nine out of the last 12, and four straight since 2010. This year’s team should be just as strong, with Kara Lawson as head coach and stars like Caitlin Clark, Paige Bueckers and Angel Reese on the roster.
