A 22-year-old man from Massachusetts is facing arson and other charges after allegedly throwing a lit firework at a police cruiser in New Hampshire.
Kyle Martel is accused of throwing a lit firework on April 19 from a wooded area at a Plymouth police officer’s cruiser.
Video from a Ring security camera shows the firework exploding near the police officer and another person. No one was hurt.
Martel was taken into custody Sunday in Massachusetts. He’s facing charges that include arson, malicious explosion, reckless conduct with a deadly weapon and two other charges.

Plymouth State University sophomore Samuel Osgood was standing feet away from the explosion. He said he considers himself lucky.
“It landed like five feet behind me,” he said. “At first, it was a little explosion, and I thought that was it, maybe it was a little firecracker, and then, it was the big explosion, and I’m running around the cop car like, what is happening?”
Jason Chute, the owner of the student apartment building where the incident occurred, said things could have gone very differently.
“Oh yeah, somebody could have gotten very badly hurt,” he said. “Not to mention, this building could have gone up easily.”
Martel is expected to be extradited to New Hampshire, but it’s unknown when that might happen.
