Over the weekend, the Boston College football program had a surprisingly successful NFL Draft, as four players were selected from BC. It was the third-highest number of players from any ACC team, behind only Clemson and Miami, despite the team going 2-10 this past season.

OL Jude Bowry selected by the Buffalo Bills, #102 overall

The first Eagle off the board was Bowry, who was taken in the fourth round by Buffalo. The Bills are looking to strengthen their offensive line to protect Josh Allen and Bowry will slot in nicely as a backup tackle for their O-Line. He has great size for the NFL, his leadership was notable as one of BC’s captains this past season, and he became a crucial piece of BC’s offensive line these past two seasons. He probably won’t be ready to be a starter for Buffalo on Day 1, but the potential is there.

OL Logan Taylor selected by the Los Angeles Chargers, #202 overall

The next Eagle off the board was also an offensive lineman, Logan Taylor, who was selected in the sixth round by LAC. Taylor bounced around on BC’s offensive line throughout the years, mostly playing guard but also finding playing time at tackle. He’s a versatile player that has been praised for his football IQ and pre-snap reads, but will be a step behind physically when he makes the jump to the pro level. If LA’s training staff can help him to build up his physique and quickness, Taylor will have a real chance at being a starter down the line.

WR Lewis Bond selected by the Houston Texans, #204 overall

Just two picks later, Lewis Bond was selected by the Houston Texans in the sixth round. Bond wasn’t invited to the NFL combine and in the days leading up to the draft didn’t seem likely to get selected. But Houston saw what BC fans have been seeing over the past few years. Bond, the all-time leader in receptions in BC’s program history, is a consistent performer that can get separation in the slot and use his quickness to create mismatches in the defensive backfield. He can change directions with ease and make defenders miss, so he could really play well in Houston’s quick passing game. There will definitely be an adjustment period as he deals with the physicality of NFL cornerbacks, but if he can overcome that, Bond has the talent to be a very effective slot receiver in the NFL.

DE Quintayvious Hutchins selected by the New England Patriots, #247 overall

The final Eagle off of the board was Q Hutchins, who the Patriots selected in the seventh round. Hutchins joins fellow Eagle Harold Landry on the Patriots deep defensive line that helped carry the team to the Super Bowl last season. Hutch is undersized for an edge rusher and is going to struggle to find playing time for New England. But he’s fast off of the snap and may get an opportunity to shine on special teams.

Congratulations to all of our Eagles!
