CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College lacrosse used a fourth-quarter surge to defeat Pittsburgh, 12-8, in the Red Bandanna Game on Saturday afternoon.

The Eagles, winners of a season-long three straight, improve to 5-4 overall and 4-2 in the ACC, while Pitt falls to 4-5 and 2-4 in conference play.

Before the game, Shea Dolce was presented with the No. 19 jersey in honor of Welles Crowther.

Lily Kondas led the Eagles with her first-career hat trick. Casey Colbert posted a season-high three points with two goals, an assist and added two ground balls, while Molly Driscoll added three points of her own (2G, 1A). Marissa White found the back of the net twice, and Kylee Colbert tallied a goal with an assist and a pair of GBs.

Defensively, Shea Baker and Kaitlyn Cole each caused two turnovers, with Baker also collecting a team-high three ground balls. Giulia Colarusso contributed across the field with six draw controls, two points (1G, 1A), a caused turnover, and a ground ball.

BC trailed 7-6 late in the third quarter until K. Colbert connected with Driscoll to even the score heading into the fourth. The score turned into a 6-0 Eagles run, highlighted by five straight in the final frame. Kondas opened the scoring in the quarter before Driscoll’s feed to K. Colbert gave BC a 9-7 lead.

Kondas added her second goal of the quarter, and Avery Hudson followed with her lone tally to extend the advantage to four. White capped the run for BC’s largest lead of the day, while the Eagles held Pitt scoreless for an 18:32 stretch. The Panthers’ final goal came with 1:46 remaining as BC secured its fifth straight win in the series.

The game remained tight through the first three quarters, with neither team leading by more than two. Pitt used a 3-0 run in the first after White opened the scoring, but BC responded with goals from Colarusso and Kondas to tie the game before the end of the quarter.

The teams traded goals in the second until C. Colbert scored with 12 seconds left to give BC a 5-4 halftime lead. Pitt answered with a 3-1 run in the third to take a 7-6 edge before Driscoll’s late goal set up the Eagles’ fourth-quarter push.

The Eagles travel to face No. 1 North Carolina next Saturday, March 21, in Chapel Hill at 12 p.m. on ACC Network.

    Notes to Know

    • Kondas scored two of her three goals in the fourth quarter.
    • She is the first BC freshman to record a hat trick since Shea Baker in 2023.
    • The sister duo of C. Colbert and K. Colbert combined for three goals and two assists, with three points coming in the second half.
    • BC controlled the draw circle in the second half, winning the battle 9-3 after Pitt held a 6-4 advantage through the first two periods.
    • Abbey Herod moved into sixth all-time in program history with 213 draw controls, surpassing Brittany Wilson (2009-12). She is seven away from passing Mikaela Rix (2012-15) for fifth all-time in school history.
