AMESBURY, Mass. – Sophomore forward James Hagens was named the Hockey East Boston Children’s Hospital Player of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
 
Hagens finished with five points over three games last week for the Eagles. On Monday, he posted two assists to help the Eagles defeat BU, 6-2, to earn their first Beanpot Championship since 2016. He was also named the Beanpot MVP following the win.
 
He scored in both games against Merrimack over the weekend, including finishing with one goal and one assist in the win over the Warriors on Saturday at Kelley Rink.
 
This marks the second time this season that Hagens has been named the league’s Player of the Week.
 
Hagens and Eagles are back in action this weekend against UConn. The series begins Friday at 7:00 p.m. at Kelley Rink on NESN and ESPN+. The teams close out the series Saturday at PeoplesBank Arena at 3:00 p.m. on ESPN+. Both games can also be heard on WEEI 850 AM.
