    BC Resumes Regular Season with Weekend Series Against Providence

    CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The No. 12/13 Boston College men’s hockey team resumes regular season play this weekend with a home-and-home series against No. 14/14 Providence. The series begins Friday at Kelley Rink on ESPNU and TSN2 (Canada) before Saturday’s game at Schneider Arena on ESPN+. Both games are scheduled for 7:00 p.m. and can also be heard live on WEEI 850 AM.
     
    SETTING THE SCENE
    • The Eagles are 11-6-1 overall and 7-3-0 in Hockey East
    • The Friars are 11-7-2 overall and 6-3-1 in league play
    • BC is ranked No. 12 in the USCHO.com poll and No. 13 in the USA Hockey poll
    • Providence comes in at No. 14 in both national polls
     
    LAST TIME OUT
    • Boston College opened its 2026 slate last weekend with an exhibition against Stonehill, picking up an 8-2 win over Skyhawks
    • Seven players scored for the Eagles, led by Dean Letourneau’s two goals
    • James Hagens and Teddy Stiga both finished with three points on one goal and two assists
    • Lukas Gustafsson, Aram Minnetian, Will Skahan, and Jake Sondreal each tallied two points
    • Louka Cloutier, Jan Korec, and Alex Musielak combined to make 30 saves between the pipes
     
    THE EAGLES
    • Letourneau and Sondreal are tied for the team lead in points with 19 each
    • Letourneau has a team-high 11 goals while Sondreal leads the team in assists with 13
    • J. Hagens has 18 points on 10 goals and eight assists
    • Ryan Conmy (13), Will Vote (13), Drew Fortescue (11) and Stiga (11) also have double digit point totals
    • Nolan Joyce leads the team in blocks with 22 and Minnetian is just behind with 20
    • Cloutier has a 10-4-1 record this season with a .913 save percentage and 2.15 goals against average
     
    RICHTER AWARD WATCH LIST
    • On Wednesday, Cloutier was named to the Mike Richter Award Watch List, presented annually to the top goalie in NCAA Division I Hockey since 2014
    • The freshman is one of 29 goaltenders across the country, and one of six in Hockey East, to be named to the Watch List
     
    A LOOK AT PROVIDENCE
    • The Friars are coming off a weekend sweep over No. 12 Maine at home, winning 6-1 and 3-0
    • Providence has won five of its last six games
    • Roger McQueen leads the Friars in points (18), assists (10), and is tied for the team lead in goals with eight
    • John Mustard and Logan Sawyer are tied for second on the team in points with 16 each
    • Jack Parsons was named the Hockey East Rookie of the Week after two wins this past weekend, combining to make 46 saves across the two victories over Maine
    • Providence made a midseason addition to their roster, announced on Sunday, January 11. The Friars added goaltender Michael Simpson, who had played in 10 games this season for the Savannah Ghost Pirates of the ECHL
     
    SERIES HISTORY
    • The Eagles are 126-55-17 all-time against the Friars
    • BC swept last season’s series, 3-0, with two of those wins coming at Schneider Arena
    • The Eagles picked up a 3-2 overtime victory on November 19, 2024
    • The teams played a weekend home-and-home series last January when Boston College grabbed a 3-0 win at home and a 4-1 victory on the road
     
    EAGLES GOING TO THE OLYMPICS
    • On Friday, January 2, USA Hockey announced that former Eagles Matt Boldy and Noah Hanifin were named to the squad competing at the Milana Cortina 2026 Games
    • Additionally, Bill Guerin, former Eagle and 2017 inductee into the BC Varsity Club Hall of Fame, is the general manager for the squad
     
    UP NEXT
    • BC takes on UNH next weekend in a home-and-home series beginning Friday at Kelley Rink before Saturday’s matchup at the Whittemore Center. Both games are scheduled for 7:00 p.m. and can be seen live on ESPN+ and heard on WEEI 850 AM.
