Olympic icon Simone Biles is trying out new sports while taking a break from gymnastics.

Biles confirmed that she’s started horseback riding lessons when she’s not attending Pilates classes with her husband, Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens.

“There are stables right next to my house and it’s here,” Biles explained to Skyler Caruso of People.com. “So it’s all fencing and equestrian. So I was bored one day and I was like, ‘What am I going to do?’ And I was like, ‘I’m going to start taking horseback riding lessons.’ Because, why not? It’s literally here.”

“And our house owner right now, he has a whole bunch of horses and he’s always offered it,” she added. “So I was like, ‘Okay, yeah, I’m definitely doing that!'”

The 11-time Olympic medalist also revealed that she’s planning to learn how to ice skate in the near future.

“I want to start taking ice skating lessons, just because the rink is three minutes from my house,” Biles told Caruso. “So that’s what my workouts looks like. It looks a little bit different, I feel like it’s a bit daring and just exploring.”

While she isn’t completely certain if she’ll be competing in the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, there isn’t much left for her to prove. Biles’ 11 Olympic medals make the most decorated women’s gymnast in United States history.

She’s also coming off a stellar performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics, taking home gold in the all-around, vault and team competitions. Biles also secured a silver medal in the floor exercise.

With the 2028 Games still several years away, the 28-year-old is currently focused on learning new sports and activities.
