▪ Manny DeOliveira’s goal delivered Upper Cape (10-3-0) a Mayflower Small Vocational championship with the lone goal in a 1-0 win over Cape Cod Tech.
▪ O’Bryant boys’ soccer (10-2-2) got a goal from Cory Loyd off a pass from Tiago Sobral to defeat Madison Park, 1-0, and secure the Boston City League South division title.
▪ Hamilton-Wenham girls’ soccer (12-0-2) locked up its sixth consecutive Cape Ann Baker division title with a 2-0 win over Pentucket on the back of Savannah Gauron’s goal and assist.
“It’s special whenever you do it, because it’s always a different group of girls,” said coach Nancy Waddell.
▪ On Wednesday, Lowell boys’ cross-country won the Merrimack Valley Conference’s regular season title, while the Red Raiders’ girls’ volleyball team clinched the MVC Division 2 championship.

▪ With 26 assist in a 3-0 girls’ volleyball win over Milton, Brookline junior Nora Mullen recorded her 1,000th career assist.
▪ Sophie Skabeikis, who earlier this season became the all-time leading scorer for St. Mary’s girls’ soccer, broke the school’s points record with two goals and an assist in a 3-1 win over Bishop Stang, giving the UMass-bound senior 159 points for her career.
▪ In a rare feat, the Attleboro field hockey team had three players net hat tricks in the same game, a 13-0 win over Bridgewater-Raynham. Megan Huntington, Olivia Fernandes, and Kelsey McCleary all scored thrice, with Huntington and McCleary each adding an assist.
▪ Not a milestone, but it was fun seeing images from Medfield girls’ soccer’s 5-0 win over Dover-Sherborn at Gillette Stadium, which was followed by a 3-2 D-S win in the boys’ match.
Here’s a sweet Greg Dudek video of Morganne Kilmer scoring from outside the box in the 36th minute.
Six Eastern Mass. football games were played Thursday night, with Tri-County (6-0), Bellingham (4-2), Bristol-Plymouth (4-2), Chelmsford (2-4), Malden (2-4), and Whittier (4-2) all emerging victorious.
▪ It was no doubt an emotional win for Whittier, which beat KIPP Academy 28-20 thanks to 22 unanswered points in the fourth quarter. The Commonwealth win, which saw senior Noah Allen run for 140 yards and three TDs, came on the same day head coach Kevin Bradley got to ring the bell in his recovery from tongue cancer.
▪ Junior running back Nick O’Brien added to his Eastern Massachusetts-leading touchdown total with three scores in a 29-16 win over South Shore Voc-Tech, giving him 27 TDs and 174 points. O’Brien ran for two short scores and caught a 51-yard touchdown pass from Declan Walker, who tossed two of them as the Cougars stayed undefeated.
▪ Sophomore Jax Elder ran 20 times for 120 yards and junior Cam Macgregor compiled 153 total yards, including a scoring strike, in Bellingham’s 23-7 win over Dover-Sherborn.
▪ With three touchdown runs from senior Nate Hicks, and two more from Thaniel LaBrie, Bristol-Plymouth churned up a 42-12 win over Southeastern.
▪ Sophomore Jayden McGuffie (28 carries, 145 yards, 3 TDs) carried the Malden offense to a 22-8 Greater Boston win over Chelsea.
▪ Chelmsford senior quarterback Anthony Mauriello ran for two scores and threw for a third in leading the Lions to a Merrimack Valley Division 2 win over North Andover, 27-6.
Here’s a chuckle for you. West Bridgewater’s JoJo Garcia slammed a powerful hit that Foxborough’s Katie Grace deflected off the backboard and into the basketball hoop. Word is she was not awarded a 2-point basket.

The Massachusetts State Field Hockey Coaches Association announced its September Players of the Month: Oxford senior Amelia Blood, Hamilton-Wenham senior Sam Nevins, Hingham senior Ryan Hallisey, and Smith Academy junior Bella Gavron.
“A commanding presence in the midfield, Sam Nevins embodies Hamilton-Wenham’s competitive spirit. Her speed, awareness, and communication have been crucial in creating scoring opportunities and organizing team play. Sam’s relentless work ethic, positivity, and leadership set her apart, inspiring teammates to perform at their best and fostering a culture of unity and excellence,” the MSFHCA wrote of Nevins, the North region winner.
“A four-year starter, three-year league all-star, and two-year captain, Ryan Hallisey continues to shine as one of the state’s premier midfielders. She has been instrumental in Hingham’s 9–0–1 record, tallying four goals and 12 assists. Her recent performance against Sandwich — scoring once, assisting another, and helping defend 17 of 18 corners — showcases her all-around dominance. Ryan leads with humility and consistency, serving as a role model for the entire Hingham program,” wrote the MSFHCA of Hallisey, the South region winner.
