The Red Sox starting rotation has been a major issue over the past few weeks, but so far Brayan Bello and Lucas Giolito have done their jobs, pitching at least six innings in the club’s first two games against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Now Walker Buehler will look to take the baton and run with it.
Buehler (4-4, 5.18) will take the mound for Wednesday’s finale as the Red Sox aim to clinch the three-game series victory. Buehler is expected to face off against Tampa Bay’s Zack Littell (6-5, 3.68), a former Red Sox right-hander who has gone on to enjoy considerable success with the Rays.
Abraham Toro, who is batting .322 through his first 26 games with the Red Sox, is set to bat third while starting at first base for Boston. Rookie Roman Anthony is back in the lineup once again starting in right field and batting fifth, and fellow top prospect Marcelo Mayer is batting seventh and playing third base.
