The Red Sox started off the evening by announcing a bunch of roster moves that in part try to clean up the mess made from last night’s Dick Fitts’ disaster. He’s going down to Worcester while other pitching help is traveling east along I-90 in an attempt to sure up the exhausted bullpen.
The team is probably going to need it too because today’s starter Brayan Bello has failed to make it through five innings in each of his last five starts.
On the on the other side of the ball, the Red Sox announced this lineup:
Those bottom seven guys ….. Um, wow! Just wow!
All seven of them except for Trevor Story have a career OPS+ below 100, and Story basically doesn’t count because his OPS + is 83 since signing with the Red Sox. Together they all scream unserious organization!
Missing are Marcelo Mayer and Wilyer Abreu, who each sit for a second straight day because they’re facing a lefty for the second straight day and the big book of stupid baseball rules says you can’t start young lefties against lefties if they show any sign of struggle. Also among those lefties missing from the lineup and Fenway Park completely are Roman Anthony and Masataka Yoshida, who are buried under some combination of service time manipulation and roster construction rubble.
You know who else isn’t in Boston? Yasmani Grandal. And now he’s not in Worcester either because apparently he got tired of waiting for the organization to figure out that he’s a better baseball player than Connor Wong. What are we even doing here?!?
According to WooSox manager Chad Tracy, veteran catcher Yasmani Grandal is no longer with Triple-A Worcester.

“It was his choice. We talked yesterday … and his response was ‘It’s time to be dad.’”
