Kiley Hogan hit a two-run homer and pitched into the seventh as No. 6 Tyngsboro (19-4) defeated third-seeded AMSA 3-2 in a Div. 4 state quarterfinal.
BOYS TRACK
Peabody star AlexJackson turned in another solid performance in capturing the shot put (62-05) at Sunday’s Meet of Champions at Fitchburg State. Shrewsbury’s Derek Shimer won the high jump (6-06), while Brookline’s Altamo Aschkenasy won the mile in 4:08.31.
Other winners included Southeastern’s Joseph Cook (110 hurdles), Milton’s Luka Juric (100 meters), Atlantis Charter’s Tharlys Silva (long jump), Chelmsford’s Gable Gray (javelin) and Reading’s Ryan Pulpi (400). Milton won the 4×100 relay, while Newton North took the 4×400 and Lowell captured the 4×800.
GIRLS TRACK
Natick’s Emmanuella Edozien turned in a state-best performance in the 100-meter hurdles at Sunday’s Meet of Champions, winning in 13.57. She wasn’t the only female athlete to step up as Peabody’s Alessandra Forgione won the javelin (143-06), Sharon’s Nina Kyei-Aboayge took home the gold in the 100 meters (11.62), Norton’s Zoe Santos won the high jump (5-07), Westford Academy’s Abigail Hennessy rolled in the mile (4:37.11) and Dennis-Yarmouth’s Breanna Braham won the 400 meters (53.70).
Other winners include Acton-Boxboro’s Emerson Gould (pole vault), Lexington’s Aubrey Deardorf (long jump), Haverhill’s Madeline Goncalves (shot put). Relay winners came from Oliver Ames (4×100), Amherst-Pelham (4×400) and Westwood (4×800).
BOYS LACROSSE
Troy Frederickson tallied the go-ahead goal as No. 10 Westwood (16-4) advanced to the Div. 2 Final Four for the first time in school history with a 9-8 win over second-seeded Longmeadow.
