The Arlington Heights, Ill. native became the first Eagle since 2023 to record two interceptions in a game. Palano’s first career interception came with a 13-yard return early in the fourth quarter. His second interception was later in the fourth quarter, clinching a 28-21 victory for the Eagles. He also added his first career full sack after only registering half a sack as a member of the Washington State Cougars in 2025.
Finishing with nine tackles, including two for loss, two interceptions and one sack, both of Palano’s tackles for loss came on fourth down, resulting in two turnovers on downs.
Each week during the regular season, the FWAA has selected a Bronko Nagurski National Defensive Player of the Week since 2001. The winner of the Bronko Nagurski Award, given annually to the best defensive player in college football, will be announced live on The Home Depot College Football Awards live on ESPN on December 11.
