    Lacrosse Falls to Stony Brook in NCAA Tournament Second Round

    STONY BROOK, N.Y. – Boston College lacrosse fell to No. 5 seed Stony Book, 10-9, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

    ​The Eagles conclude the season at 10-8, while the Seawolves advance to face Johns Hopkins in the quarterfinals.

    ​Kylee Colbert paced the offense with four goals, while Giulia Colarusso poured in four points with two scores, two assists and a team-high four draw controls. Marissa White found the back of the net twice, and Casey Colbert dished out two assists.

    ​Shea Dolce made seven saves in the setback.

    ​Trailing by as much as six in the second half, the Eagles climbed back to within one thanks to a 6-1 run spearheaded by Colarusso and K. Colbert, who scored a combined four goals during the surge.

    ​After Colarusso sliced the gap to one, neither team scored for the final 4:13 of the contest, leading to the hosts’ win.

    Stony Brook started the game on a 4-0 run, which was the score heading into the second period until White’s first strike of the contest sliced the lead to three. However, Stony Brook put together a 3-0 spurt 

    to stretch the lead to six, 7-1. K. Colbert scored the final two goals of the first half to slice the deficit to four, 7-3.

    The Seawolves tacked on two straight in the first 4:47 of the third period to extend their lead to six before the Eagles’ run.

    Notes to Know

    – Dolce ends her career second all-time with 643 saves, seventh with 137 ground balls, a career .482 save percentage and 64 wins. 

    – Abbey Herod finishes her career fourth all-time with 253 draw controls.

    – K. Colbert led the Eagles with 10 goals through two NCAA Tournament games.
