CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College women’s basketball head coach Kate Popovec-Goss has added Carrie Banks to her staff as associate head coach, bringing in a veteran with experience across multiple programs.

“I am incredibly grateful to join the Boston College women’s basketball staff and be reunited with Kate, someone I’ve known for over a decade, and had the opportunity to work with previously,” said Banks.  “I have always had a great respect for her leadership, vision, and ability to connect with people. Boston College is a tremendous opportunity to compete at the highest level while offering student-athletes one of the best degrees in the country. I am thrilled that I get to be a part of such a rich tradition. Go Eagles!”

Banks arrives at the Heights after leading the Omaha Mavericks women’s basketball for five seasons from 2020–25.  During her tenure, she guided the program to a pair of Summit League championship game appearances, earned the program’s first top-25 win and coached and recruited multiple All-Summit League performers.

Before her time at Omaha, Banks spent four years with Ohio State (2016–20), working primarily with post players. During her tenure, the Buckeyes secured a top-five recruiting class in 2019 and totaled 91 wins. The stretch included consecutive Big Ten regular-season titles in 2017 and 2018, along with a conference tournament championship in 2018.

Banks also spent time at Northwestern Wildcats women’s basketball from 2010–13, contributing to one NCAA Tournament appearance and two trips to the WNIT.

Banks began her collegiate coaching career at her alma mater, the University of Detroit Mercy, from 2008–10 before joining South Florida Bulls women’s basketball as an assistant coach in 2010.

A graduate of Detroit Mercy, Banks earned her degree in communications in 2000. She was a four-year letterwinner with the Titans before continuing her playing career professionally in Portugal.

Following her playing days, Banks coached girls AAU basketball in Ohio and served as the junior varsity head coach at Dublin Jerome High School from 2004–06. She later worked as a freelance reporter and analyst for the Big Ten Network while completing her master’s degree in journalism at Kent State.
