There were huge concerns after Team USA barely escaped Italy in the FIBA Women’s World Cup. But it looks like the national team has crushed all of them after back-to-back blowout wins against Czechia and Hungary.

Team USA advanced to the semifinals on Wednesday after obliterating Hungary, 108-56, at Berlin Arena. It was a lopsided affair from the get-go, with the four-time defending champions outscoring Hungary in the first quarter, 36-12. The rest was merely a formality.
Napheesa Collier led the way with 19 points and seven rebounds. Rhyne Howard had 15 points and four steals, while Caitlin Clark added 10 points, three rebounds, nine assists, and two steals.

Team USA set multiple quarterfinals records with its dominant performance: Most points, most first-half points with 59, largest halftime lead at 29, and most assists with 31.
The Kara Lawson-coached squad led by as much as 55 points and shot 59% from the field, including 12-of-23 from three-point range.

Six other players scored at least seven points for Team USA.
Lawson’s wards badly outrebounded Hungary, 42-29. They also forced Hungary to 27 turnovers, converting them into 44 points.
“This was one of our most complete performances of the tournament. Defensively, we were active and forced a lot of turnovers. I was really pleased by that. Offensively, we as coaches love when they share the ball, and they did that at just a high level,” said Lawson in the postgame conference.
Team USA, which is aiming for its 12th title, has not missed the semifinals of the FIBA Women’s World Cup since 1975.

Team USA will next face the winner between Spain and Australia.
