An old New England Patriots nemesis may have delighted fans with his read of the A.J. Brown situation.

Former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles said on his “The SZN ” podcast that he’s heard rumblings of Brown desiring a trade. The Super Bowl LII MVP believes the Patriots are a logical landing spot for the star wide receiver.

“What I have gathered is, (Brown) wants to be traded,” Foles said. “But I also think he wants to be traded to specific places. I think New England would make a lot of sense because of his history with (Mike) Vrabel. I think that’s obvious, right? I think he even said he grew up a Patriots fan, if I’m correct, so that would be a twofold situation.”

Foles is hardly the first person to link the Patriots to a potential Brown blockbuster. Vrabel coached Brown on the Tennessee Titans, and the reigning AFC champions can use a star pass-catching playmaker for Drake Maye.

Time is running out for Philadelphia to trade Brown before next week’s draft, but that doesn’t mean the three-time Pro Bowler will stay with the Eagles. They could lessen their dead cap hit by trading him after June 1.

NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport called a Brown trade to New England after that date the “most likely scenario” on Thursday’s “The Herd with Colin Cowherd.”

“Most people believe that there’s an eventual trade to the Patriots,” Rapoport said Thursday. “It has not been done yet; I don’t believe it’s been done yet. And I don’t know for sure, for sure that’s going to happen, because life is weird, and that’s two months from now.”
