AMESBURY, Mass. – Sophomore forward James Hagens and senior defenseman Lukas Gustafsson were named Hockey East monthly award winners, announced by the league office on Wednesday morning.

Hagens was named the Boston Children’s Hospital Player of the Month, while Gustafsson was recognized as the Army ROTC Defender of the Month.

Hagens led all of Hockey East in goals (8), multi-point games (4) and power-play goals (4), and was tied for third in assists (7). The sophomore recorded at least one point in all nine games, which was highlighted by a hat-trick in the 5-2 win over No. 10 UConn. Gustafsson posted eight points over the month of February, tied for the most among defensemen in the league, and finished with three goals and five assists. The senior captain particularly performed well in the Beanpot, finishing with two goals and three assists for five points, including a one goal and two assist effort in the Beanpot Championship.

The Eagles take on UMass Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the Mullins Center before the regular season finale on Saturday against Northeastern at 7:00 p.m. at Kelley Rink.
