As families start making holiday travel plans, the Old Farmer’s Almanac Christmas 2025 outlook offers a hopeful take: a “white Christmas” in parts of New England is possible — but not guaranteed.

According to The Almanac, snow is possible in parts of the Northeast around Christmas Day, with the region included among areas where holiday snowfall could occur.

The map highlights zones across the country that may see snow, rain or sunshine as people travel for the holiday.

While it doesn’t break Massachusetts down by region or specify which parts of the state are more or less likely to get snow, The Almanac makes clear that snow is in the cards for New England as a whole.

    But timing will be everything.

A storm tracking through at the right time could deliver a white Christmas, but a shift in temperature could just as easily leave parts of the region bare.

The Almanac stresses broad conditions across the board.

Snow is expected in some regions during the holiday period, while rain is expected in others.

Massachusetts lands in the larger Northeast zone, where The Almanac predicts a higher probability of snowfall on Christmas, but it doesn’t make any promises.

For Bay Staters, a white Christmas in 2025 isn’t guaranteed — but it’s still on the table.
