RJRGleaner Sports understands that experienced Reggae Girlz defender Chantelle Swaby is in danger of missing next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup if Jamaica qualifies for the global showpiece.

The 28-year-old sustained an injury to her right Achilles during the Reggae Girlz’s 3-1 defeat to Mexico in an away friendly international on Tuesday and could be sidelined for an extended period.

Swaby was carried off the field after suffering the injury in the second half.

The Reggae Girlz are scheduled to face Costa Rica in the quarter-finals of the CONCACAF W Championship on November 27 in Texas.

The winner will qualify for next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup, which is scheduled to be held in Brazil from June 24 to July 25.
