WPIAL officials set championship sites and dates for the 2026 fall sports on Tuesday with two large exceptions — football and soccer.
District officials hope to have the sites and dates for those two sports confirmed before the end of this week.
In the past for football, the WPIAL finals have been held at Norwin or Pine-Richland for the championships played in the third week of November. Those have been the Class 6A and 4A title games the last two years and will be again this season.
With the exception of the 2020 covid season, the district has hosted four championship games at Acrisure Stadium, the home of the Pittsburgh Steelers formerly known as Heinz Field, since the stadium opened on the North Shore of Pittsburgh in 2001.
Prior to that, WPIAL championship games were held on a regular basis at Three Rivers Stadium going back to the 1980’s.
The WPIAL boys and girls soccer championships have been held at F.N.B Stadium, formerly known as Highmark Stadium, since the facility opened in 2013.
Earlier this year, PIAA officials announced that the state boys and girls soccer championship matches will take place at F.N.B. Stadium in Pittsburgh for the next four years.

Field hockey: North Allegheny High School on Nov. 3, 4, 5
Boys golf: Class 2A individuals on Oct. 6, at Oakmont Country Club
Class 3A individuals on Oct. 5, at Sewickley Heights Country Club
Class 3A and 2A team championships on Oct. 13, at Cedarbrook Golf Club
Girls golf: Class 3A and 2A individuals on Sept. 28, at Hillcrest Country Club
Class 3A and 2A team championships on Oct. 6, at Valleybrook Country Club
Girls tennis: Day 1 singles Class 2A at Bethel Park and Class 3A at North Allegheny on Sept. 23
Day 2 singles championships at Bethel Park on Sept. 24
Day 1 doubles Class 2A at North Allegheny and Class 3A at Bethel Park on Oct. 7
Day 2 doubles championships at Bethel Park on Oct. 8
Team championships at Washington & Jefferson on Oct. 21
Girls volleyball: Peters Township’s AHN Arena on Nov. 5, 6, 7
