NEWTON, Mass. – Maren Boyle recorded a hat trick to lead Boston College field hockey (4-7, 0-3 ACC) to a 5-1 victory over Northeastern (3-6, 2-0 CAA) on Sunday afternoon at the Newton Field Hockey Complex.
Boyle scored all three of her goals between the second and third quarters, helping the Eagles build a four-goal advantage before Madelieve Drion and Madeline Leigh added in the fourth.
After a scoreless opening 15 minutes, Boyle opened the scoring, finishing a feed from Kate Bock to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
Boston College added three goals in the third quarter, with Boyle striking twice in a span of 1:29 to complete her hat trick. Her last two goals each came off penalty corners with feeds from Drion and Ike Jakobsen.
Drion extended the BC lead to 4-0 with her goal in the fourth, while Leigh added the Eagles’ fifth.
Boston College controlled the offensive play throughout the afternoon, holding a 23-6 advantage in shots and earning 10 penalty corners to Northeastern’s three. The Eagles put 14 shots on goal, compared to just two for the Huskies.
Charlotte Kramer made one save through the first three quarters before Arianna Fragomeni entered for the final 15 minutes. Northeastern scored in the fourth quarter, but the Eagles’ defense held strong to preserve the 5-1 victory.
