Chestnut Hill, Mass. – Boston College men’s soccer (5-2-2, 1-2-1 ACC) welcomes North Carolina (4-2-3, 0-1-2 ACC) on Saturday afternoon at the Newton Soccer Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m., and the game will stream live on ACC Network Extra.

LAST TIME OUT

The Eagles fell to then 14th-ranked Clemson, 4-0 last time out. Andrej Borak saved five shots for the fourth consecutive match. 

THE EAGLES

Boston College is 5-2-2 this season with a 1-2-1 record in conference play. Michael Asare and Russell Brown lead the team with four goals each. The Eagles have three players with nine points this season: Asare (4 G, 1 A), Brown (4 G, 1 A), and Dylan Mafong (3 G, 3 A). Bryan Toro leads BC in assists with four, which is tied for second most in the conference. Borak has started every game for the Eagles this season and has a 1.56 goals-against average and a .714 save percentage, along with two shutouts. 

A LOOK AT NORTH CAROLINA

The Tar Heels enter Saturday at 4-2-3 and 0-1-2 in ACC play. They defeated West Florida in their last match, 2-0 on Wednesday. Joschi Schelb leads North Carolina with seven goals; his 15 points (7 G, 1 A) also lead the Tar Heels. Bertil Rygaard Hansen has three assists, which lead North Carolina. Alan Rutkowski has started all nine games for the Tar Heels and has a 1.26 goals-against average, a .703 save percentage, and three shutouts. 

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST THE TAR HEELS

Saturday marks the 21st meeting between the two programs, and Boston College is 5-13-2, with only one of those wins coming in Newton back in 2008. The last meeting came in 2024 in the Eagles’ regular-season finale, when BC won 1-0 on an 87th-minute winner from Marci Killeen, assisted by Jack Burkhardt and Marco Dos Santos. North Carolina last visited Newton in 2022, when the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
