CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – The Boston College Volleyball team is back for its second weekend of ACC action. The Eagles first welcome No. 2 Pittsburgh on Friday, October 2, at 7 p.m., then take on No. 5 SMU on Sunday, October 4, in the Morgan’s Message Game. Both contests will be streaming on ACCNX.
Inside the Match-Up
vs. Pittsburgh
The Eagles will host Pittsburgh at the Margot Connell Recreation Center on Oct. 2. The matchup will mark the 42nd meeting between the two programs, with the series dating back to 1983. Pittsburgh holds a 40-1 advantage in the all-time series, with Boston College’s lone victory on Oct. 1, 2000.
Pittsburgh enters its upcoming matchup with Boston College 12-0 overall and 2-0 in ACC play, while ranked No. 2 nationally. The Panthers opened the season with 10 straight non-conference victories, including wins over four ranked opponents, before sweeping California in their ACC opener and No. 12 Stanford on Sunday.
vs. SMU
The Eagles will host SMU at the Margot Connell Recreation Center on Oct. 4 for their third meeting. The series began in 2024, with the Mustangs winning both previous meetings.
SMU enters its matchup with Boston College at 10-2 overall and 2-0 in ACC play, ranked No. 5 nationally. The Mustangs opened the season with wins over No. 8 Texas A&M, CSU and UC Davis before falling to TCU in five sets. SMU answered with victories over No. 9 Texas and No. 3 Kentucky before opening ACC play with a pair of home wins over Stanford and California.
Opening Weekend for ACC Play
The Eagles kicked off ACC play on Sept. 25 with a 3-1 victory over Notre Dame. Audrey Ross led all players against the Fighting Irish by setting a new career high with 25 kills, while Sam Hoppes chipped in 10 kills. Ava McBride logged a double-double with a career-best 21 assists and 10 digs, and Brooklyn Yelland anchored the back-row defense with 19 digs and nine assists. Marjanovic served four aces and added 13 digs, while Isabelle Poehlein and Dunkle each recorded four total blocks as BC restricted Notre Dame to a .161 hitting percentage.
The weekend wrapped up on Sunday, Sept. 27, as BC fell in straight sets (19-25, 21-25, 14-25) to No. 4 Louisville. Ross once again paced the offense with 13 kills on a .270 hitting percentage, plus five digs and two blocks, while Dunkle was remarkably efficient with five kills on a team-high .556 clip. Lucie Vesela delivered a match-high three service aces, and McBride added 11 assists and eight digs.

Entering conference play, Boston College and several players rank among the top 10 in team and individual categories.
In 45 sets, Boston College ranks second in opponent hitting percentage (.165), fifth in blocks (2.56/set) and sixth in service aces (1.53/set).
Audrey Ross ranks third in kills (4.51/set) and points (5.17/set). Sofija Marjanovic and Brooklyn Yelland both rank eighth in the service aces (0.40/set), with Yelland also sitting ninth in the ACC in digs (3.44/set).

Boston College wrapped up its non-conference schedule with an impressive 9-2 overall record. The Eagles established clear net dominance throughout the opening stretch, out-blocking opponents 106.0 to 64.0 overall and averaging 2.79 blocks per set compared to opponents’ 1.68.
Audrey Ross anchored the offense for the BC, leading the squad in kills with 165 (4.34/set) and points per set at 5.05. Ross posted a .277 hitting percentage and contributed on defense with 87 digs (2.29/set) and 28 total blocks. Sam Hoppes provided high-efficiency scoring in the middle, hitting .370 on 211 total attacks with 104 kills (2.74/set). Hoppes ranked second on the team in total points (123.0) and blocks (33.0, 0.87/set).
Naomi Watson spearheaded the Eagles’ front-row defense, racking up a team-leading 52.0 total blocks (1.37/set), including 14 solo blocks and 38 block assists.
