Named in honor of former Indiana State head coach John McNichols, the course features a challenging, yet manageable, mix of uphill and downhill sections and its simple straightaway start that stretches for nearly the first kilometer before a turn. The course has also hosted 13 NCAA Division I National Championships and will host the 2026 NCAA Cross Country Championships this November.
The field includes 35 Division I teams, eight of which are nationally ranked, and four in the top 10. The Eagles will also be racing against two ACC opponents in the event (Stanford & Louisville).
Boston College enters the 2026 season ranked at No. 28 in the USTFCCCA Division I Preseason National Coaches’ Poll. The Eagles, who advanced to the NCAA Championships last season after winning the Northeast Regional title, were also selected as the No. 1 team in the Northeast Region.
