The most important lacrosse sixes competition before its Olympic debut in 2028 will be held in Colorado Springs in October 2027.
The first World Lacrosse Sixes Championships, which are also the primary qualifier for the 2028 LA Games, will be at Weidner Field in Colorado Springs, a city nicknamed “Olympic City USA” since it’s the base of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee and many national governing bodies for Olympic sports.
World Lacrosse, the international governing body for lacrosse, is also based in Colorado Springs.
Lacrosse returns to the Olympic program in 2028 after last appearing as a full-fledged medal sport in 1908, but for the first time in the six-per-side format.
The U.S. women’s sixes team is ranked No. 1 in the world. The U.S. men are No. 2 behind Canada.
The U.S. has automatic spots in the six-team Olympic tournaments as host nation. The 2027 World Championships will decide the next four men’s teams and four women’s teams.
A last-chance qualifier will fill out the last team in each field.
