The Eagles extend their winning streak over the Skyhawks to four games, sweeping them in every contest to date.
Audrey Ross had 14 kills to lead all players, adding six digs and two total blocks. Sam Hoppes recorded an efficient .700 hitting percentage after successfully killing seven of her ten spikes, and Reese Dunkle logged a career-high seven kills in the win. Lucie Vesela also made her Boston College debut Thursday night, leading the team with 14 assists.
The first set was a close affair after the first ten rallies before BC opened the gap with a 9-3 scoring run. Ross and Hoppes combined for three kills, while the front line forced the visitors into multiple errors to create a 14-7 lead. After the media timeout, the Eagles were able to extend their lead to as large as eight after Hoppes recorded back-to-back kills. However, Stonehill answered with an 8-2 scoring run to cut the deficit to 21-19, forcing a timeout from the hosts. BC came out with a focused mindset, as Ross logged a pair of kills before creating a Stonehill attacking error to give the Eagles the first set, 25-21.
Boston College jumped out to a four-point lead in the second set, but Stonehill came back to even the set at 8-8. Kills from Hoppes, Dunkle and Laney Blevins helped reclaim a four-point edge for the hosts, as they entered the media timeout with a 15-12 lead. The Eagles took control from there, outscoring the Skyhawks 10-5 behind seven kills from six different players, claiming the second set 25-17.
The third set began with BC opening a 10-5 advantage after Ross, Hoppes and Sofija Marjanovic connected on a combined four kills. They then rolled into the media timeout with a seven-point gap, keeping a comfortable lead throughout the set. Isabelle Poehlein made her first appearance since injury last season in the set as well, as the Eagles went on to take the final set by a score of 25-21.
