CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College Volleyball is back for its second home tournament of the season, as they host the Boston College Invitational from September 3-5 at the Margot Connell Center. They welcome Stonehill, Bucknell, and New Hampshire, with all games streaming on ACCNX.
Inside the Match-Up
Stonehill
The Eagles will face Stonehill for the fourth time in program history to open the Boston College Invitational. Boston College owns a perfect 3-0 record in the all-time series, including two victories in 2025 and a 3-0 win in the first meeting on Sept. 17, 2023. The Eagles have won all nine sets played against the Skyhawks.
Stonehill enters with a 2-2 record after opening the 2026 season at the University of New Orleans/Nicholls State Invitational. The Skyhawks beat New Orleans and Alcorn State but fell to Nicholls and Oral Roberts. Outside hitter Sam Loyd led the way in Stonehill’s first win, recording 12 kills while hitting .500 against New Orleans.
Bucknell
They will then meet Bucknell Saturday evening for the fourth time in program history and for the first time in 27 years. Boston College has won both previous meetings, earning 3-0 victories in 1992 and 1998. BC holds a 3-1 all-time series lead over the Bison.
Bucknell comes in with a 1-2 record after opening the 2026 campaign at the Marshall Tournament. The Bison dropped a pair of three-set matches to Ohio and Marshall before bouncing back with a four-set victory over Niagara, earning head coach John Post his first win at Bucknell. Against Niagara, middle blocker Sidney Shaffer and opposite Marion Haskell each recorded 13 kills, while setter Peyton McGee posted a career-high 47 assists.
New Hampshire
Boston College concludes its weekend against New Hampshire Saturday afternoon. This will be the 19th time the teams have squared off, with New Hampshire holding an 11-7 edge in the all-time series. The Wildcats claimed the most recent meeting, a 3-1 decision on Aug. 30, 2023.
UNH enters with a 3-0 record after sweeping the Holly Young Invitational at home. The Wildcats opened the season with a five-set win over New Haven before earning straight-set victories over Saint Peter’s and a 3-1 win over Providence. Outside hitter Emma Converse earned Tournament MVP honors after recording a career-high 20 kills against the Friars, while outside hitter Lucy Chertock and middle blocker Rachel Grier were named to the America East Preseason All-Conference Team.
Spectacular Season Opener
Boston College opened the 2026 season on a roll, sweeping both opponents as part of the Chestnut Hill Invite. The Eagles began with a 3-0 win over Air Force (8/28) in the season opener. Audrey Ross highlighted the evening with a career-high 24 kills, recording a .475 hitting percentage and 26 points. Naomi Watson also shined, recording 10 total blocks in her first career start, while Laney Blevins and Ava McBride made their collegiate debuts.
The following contest saw Boston College defeat Quinnipiac 3-0 (8/30), where Ross once again led all players with 15 kills and Ava McBride had a game-high 20 assists. Additionally, freshmen Ava Castro, Mia Gold and Tiani Shaw made their first appearances in the victory. The Eagles’ 2-0 start marks the sixth straight season, the longest streak in program history.
ACC Rankings
Through the first weekend of volleyball, Boston College and several players rank among the top 10 in the conference.
Through six sets, Boston College ranks first in the ACC in blocks per set (3.83) and opponent blocks per set (1.17), as well as third in hitting percentage (.290).
Individually, Audrey Ross ranks first in kills per set (6.50) and points per set (7.00), also ranking seventh in hitting percentage (.429). Naomi Watson leads the conference in blocks per set (2.67) with 16 total blocks, tied for fifth, while Sofija Marjanovic ranks second in the ACC in service aces per set (0.83). Finally, Brooklyn Yelland has the sixth-best dig per set rate (3.83) in the conference.

The Eagles have been nearly unstoppable at the Boston College Invitational, posting an 11-1 record across four iterations of the event. Last season, BC defeated Sacramento State, Dartmouth and UAlbany, as Audrey Ross recorded 42 kills and 21 digs across all three contests. The Eagles have gone 3-0 in three of the four years they have hosted the invitational, sweeping at least one opponent each year.
