After practice, Gregory P. Barber ’69 and Family Head Coach Bill O’Brien met with the media, as well as tight end Brady Clough and cornerback Ashton Cunningham.
During Tuesday’s opening one-on-one period, the defense got the better of the offense to start. Cornerback Max Tucker and safety Carter Davis each had an interception, and fellow Maryland native Kameron Howard added a pass breakup of his own. Grayson Wilson put a point on the board for the offense at the end of the period with a touchdown pass to VJ Wilkins.
“I’ve taken a lot from these older guys in the secondary. They’ve been here for me since I’ve been here. They’ve made this place feel like home, and they’ve been great with leadership on and off the field,” Cunningham said after practice.
Wide receiver Johnathan Montague Jr. was one of the more active receivers during Tuesday’s practice, catching ball after ball in the open field from all three of the Eagles quarterbacks. Both Reed Swanson and Jackson Wade would later catch touchdown passes from Mason McKenzie towards the end of practice.
“I think all three of those guys have really gotten better,” O’Brien said after practice about the quarterbacks. “They’ve all done a great job. Obviously, we have a ways to go before we play Cincinnati, but they’ve really improved.”
Tuesday featured more special teams work from the Eagles punters and kickers, showcasing the importance of field position and the depth of the room as a whole.
The Eagles will practice tomorrow as they round out their final week of training camp. Practices are closed to the public.
