A fracas ensued in which players and coaches from both sides rushed in to help their teammates.
FIFA’s punishment was revealed on Friday — and it was extensive.
Paredes has received 10-game ban and a $90,000 fine.
His teammate, Nahuel Molina, was given a seven-game ban and a $90,000 role for his role in the altercation.
Argentina player Thiago Almada was handed a one-match ban and a $30,000 fine, and Argentina assistant coach Roberto Ayala received a three-match ban and a $30,000 fine.
Gavi was the only Spain player who received punishment for his role in the brawl. He got a one-game ban and a $30,000 fine.
In all, that makes 22 games in suspensions and $270,000 in fines assessed for the embarrassing scene.
Argentina legend Lionel Messi wasn’t directly involved in the brawl that happened after the game.
There’s some uncertainty about whether the 39-year-old Messi will continue his international career after Argentina’s bid for back-to-back world championships came up just short.
