NEWTON, Mass. – Bryan Toro and Russell each scored in the last 13 minutes, which proved to be the difference as the Boston College men’s soccer team defeated Siena, 3-1, in a non-conference match-up on Sunday night at the Newton Soccer Complex.
Michael Asare and Toro each recorded their first goals of the season, while Brown’s 90th-minute goal was his second of the year. Asare and Henze each had their first assists of the year, while Toro recorded his second. Andrej Borak stopped four of the five shots that he faced.
Asare opened the scoring in the 16th minute when he took one touch to redirect a Toro free kick into the net.
Siena tied the game in the 72nd minute when a cross found an unmarked Lucas Almeida who tapped it home.
Toro responded five minutes later when he knocked in a cross from Henze as he was falling to help the Eagles regain the lead.
Brown capped off the scoring when he grabbed his second of the year as BC quickly countered through Asare, whose cross found Brown inside the six-yard box, which allowed him to make it 3-1.
The Eagles held slight edges in a closely contested contest as they outshot the Saints 7-5, while tying in corners.
Boston College is back in action on Friday at 7 p.m. against Dartmouth on the Newton Soccer Field. The game will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra.
