CLEMSON, S.C. – No. 20 Boston College baseball (35-16, 17-10) fell to Clemson (28-20, 8-19), 4-3 in the finale of their three-game series on Sunday afternoon.

Tyler Mudd started for the Eagles and went four innings while allowing just one earned run and striking out a pair. Gavin Soares came on in the fifth in relief and threw 3.2 innings, giving up three earned runs while striking out two. John Kwiatkowski came on for his 20th appearance of the season and retired the lone batter he faced.

Boston College struck first when Gunnar Johnson drove a ball through the left side of the infield to score Julio Solier from third in the top of the first inning.

The Tigers would tie it at one in the bottom of the second after getting runners at first and third before hitting a sacrifice fly to deep center field to score the runner from third.

The Eagles would tack on a second in the top of the third when Johnson lined a two-out single through the middle to bring in Solier.

In the top of the sixth, Boston College would make it 3-1, when Colin Larson singled to right field to bring in Ben Williams from second.

Clemson cut it to a one-run game in the bottom of the seventh with a solo shot to left field. They took the lead in the bottom of the eighth with two runs crossing the plate on back-to-back singles.

Up Next: The Eagles will have the week off before returning on May 9 against NJIT for a doubleheader beginning at 4:00 p.m.
