BRIGHTON, Mass. – No. 24 Boston College Baseball (29-12, 12-7 ACC) defeated Duke (22-18, 8-11 ACC) on Friday afternoon by a score of 11-1 over seven innings. The victory extends the Eagles’ win streak to five games, including three-straight in the league.

A.J. Colarusso took the mound for the Eagles, setting a new program record with 44 career starts. Colarusso allowed just one run on three hits and had four strikeouts over seven innings of work for his first career complete game.

The Eagles set a new program record for stolen bases with 14, which also tied the ACC record. Boston College tallied eight of those in the second inning, tying the NCAA record for stolen bases in an inning.

Luke Gallo paced the offense, going 3-4 from the plate with 4 RBI and two runs. Jack Toomey had three hits and three stolen bases, while Ty Mainolfi finished with two hits, two RBI, and three stolen bases.

BC wasted little time getting runs on the board, plating three runs on three hits in the first inning. Mainolfi opened the scoring with a single through the left side of the infield to score Julio Solier from second. After Mainolfi stole second, Nick Wang singled to left center to put him across the plate and double the lead. Wang scored later in the inning to put the Eagles ahead by three.

Boston College was active on the basepaths early in the game with 11 stolen bases through the first two innings, including two double steals.

BC added four in the second inning, including a two-RBI single up the middle by Gallo, to push its lead to 8-0.

The Eagles added their program-best 12th stolen base in the bottom of the third.

After Duke got on the scoreboard in the fourth with a run, BC responded with another run in the bottom half of the inning off an RBI single to left field by Cesar Gonzalez. Boston College tacked on another two runs in the fifth to push the lead to 11-1. Gallo hit an RBI single to right center that scored Toomey from second. In the next at-bat, Carter Hendrickson stole home.

Colarusso allowed just one hit over the final three innings to see out the win.

Up Next: The Eagles and Blue Devils square off tomorrow afternoon for game two of the series. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on ACCNX.
