The April holiday is only celebrated by Massachusetts and Maine. It marks the first battle of the American Revolution, and has also become synonymous with the running of the Boston Marathon. The day is always commemorated on the third Monday of the month; this year, that’s April 20.

The unique holiday has a patchwork of schedule changes. Here’s what you need to know about what’s open and how to get around on Patriots’ Day.
