    Sailing Claims Central 4 Fleet Race Victory

    CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College found the victory column once again, winning the Central 4 Fleet Race as part of a three-regatta weekend. The team also recorded a second-place finish at the Oberg Trophy and third-place finish at the Thompson Trophy Team Race.

    The Eagles opened the weekend with the Central 4 FR, hosted by Bentley. Led by Roger Casellas and Abbie Catalano in Division A, the team logged a total of four points before before Brady Kennedy and Lauren Leonard recorded five points in Division B. The team total of nine points placed BC firmly in the lead, as they would hold on to take the regatta.

    In the Thompson Trophy Team Race, led by skippers Cody Roe, Tanner Krygsveld, and Alex Lech, and crew Christian Yanoti, Sydney Lombard, Ryan McGauley, and Emily Marlas, the Eagles finished with a 10-5 to place third overall. The team recorded first-place finishes in six of its 10 wins, including four one-two finishes.
     
    Finally, BC competed in the Obergy Trophy, hosted by Northeastern. A Division’s James O’Gwen and Madeline Torrey finished first with a point total of 63. Jake Homberger, Tor Svendsen, Brooke Bergendahl, and Paige Roby also took a first-place finish in B Division with 49 points, before Kate Joslin and Aiesha Shekhar finished eighth in C Division with 110 points. The 222-point total placed them second overall behind Brown with 177 points.
     
    Next week, the Eagles compete in four regattas across New England, starting with the Boston College Team Race on Tuesday, April 14.
