Shoppers line up for Trader Joe’s new lavender canvas tote
Shoppers are lining up and snapping up Trader Joe’s new large lavender canvas tote bags, which are priced at $3.99 per tote.
Massachusetts is getting another Trader Joe’s store this year.
An announcement on the grocery store chain’s website said that Trader Joe’s workers are preparing to open a store in a town just west of Salem.
“Our Crew is working hard so we can open our doors in 2026,” Trader Joe’s said. “We’ll continue to post new details about the store and its opening here, so please check back for updates!”
This store opening would bring the number of Trader Joe’s locations in Massachusetts up to 26. That is certainly a long way from the first two TJ stores that opened in the Bay State in 1996, which were in Brookline and Cambridge, respectively.
Here’s where the newly announced Commonwealth supermarket will be.
Where will the new Trader Joe’s be?
The new Trader Joe’s store will be in Reading, Massachusetts.
“We are proud to be joining the neighborhood, and to continue our commitment to providing nourishment to the surrounding communities through our Neighborhood Shares program,” the announcement said.
According to a store press release, the Trader Joe’s Neighborhood Shares Program donates all of their unsold but still enjoyable products to local non-profit groups.
“Nearly 80% of products donated through the Neighborhood Shares Program are items such as produce, entrees (salads, sandwiches, soups, etc.), bakery, proteins, dairy, and eggs,” the press release said.
The store locator page for Reading said that the market will be located at 34 Walkers Brook Drive in Reading, Massachusetts.
A Town of Reading news release said that it will be where the Staples used to be and that it will fit in snugly with the other businesses at the Crossing at Walkers Brook shopping center.
