CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. – Boston College Baseball checked in at No. 21 in the Baseball America and No. 22 in the D1 Baseball national polls this morning.

The Eagles, who are coming off their second-ranked series this win season, took two of three from then ninth-ranked Virginia. Boston College won Friday and Saturday’s contests, 5-3 and 17-0.

The Eagles now have five wins over ranked opponents and three top-10 victories. Before winning the series against the Cavaliers, Boston College had defeated then-No. 24 Miami twice and then-No. 10 N.C. State, both on the road.

The Eagles also have five players ranked in D1Baseball’s midseason rankings. Ty Mainolfi is the top-ranked among Boston College’s five, coming in 23rd among all second basemen and sixth best in the ACC. Nick Wang is second at 29th and seventh among ACC first basemen. Gavin Soares is third and 34th among all relievers, which is the sixth-highest in the ACC. Julio Solier is fourth and the 37th-ranked shortstop in the country. A.J. Colarusso is the fifth member, as he comes in at 83rd among starting pitchers.

The newly ranked Eagles will host Maine tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. before traveling to sixth-ranked North Carolina for a weekend series beginning on April 2.
