    Cynthia Zhang Leads Field at Briar’s Creek Invitational

    JOHN’S ISLAND, S.C. – The Boston College Women’s Golf team returned to South Carolina for the Briar’s Creek Invitational, hosted by the College of Charleston. They sit in the lead at 13-under par, with three of the five players in the lineup battling in the top five.
     
    Senior Cynthia Zhang leads the field at 6-under par after shooting an opening round of 66. She leads the field in par 3’s (-1) and par 4’s (-4), and has a tournament-high seven birdies through 18 holes.
     
    Next are junior Frances Kim at 4-under par and freshman Joyce Zhang at 3-under par, both sitting inside the top five individually. Both recorded five birdies on the afternoon.
     
    Graduate student Tiffany Cao is tied for 17th after she recorded a 72 in the opening round to stay at even-par, and sophomore Ana Lucia Trevino sits in a tie for 52nd at 3-over par.
     
    The 54-hole tournament has now been reduced to 36 holes due to inclement weather. Boston College will tee off holes 1-3 alongside UCF and College of Charleston, starting at 9:30 a.m.
