RALEIGH, N.C. – Boston College Baseball (11-8, 3-3 ACC) fell to NC State (16-4, 2-1 ACC) on Sunday afternoon, 5-1.

Brady Miller started for the Eagles in his longest outing of the year, which saw him go four innings, allowing just two hits and one earned run. He was relieved in the top of the fifth inning by Jacob Burnham, who gave up three earned runs without recording an out. Burnham was replaced by Luke D’Ancona, who pitched two scoreless innings while giving up three hits. Chase Hartsell pitched the seventh and was perfect, throwing just eight pitches to get through the inning. Bobby Chicoine finished out the game as he allowed just one earned run and two hits.

The game was scoreless through the first two innings, with each team recording just one hit, along with having multiple base runners on.

In the third inning, Ty Mainolfi got Boston College going with a two-out single through to right field. Two pitches later, Mainolfi made it 1-0 Eagles when he scored on a throwing error by the Wolfpack.

NC State would tie it up in the bottom of the fourth with a sacrifice fly to center.

The Wolf Pack would take the lead in the bottom of the fifth with a double to left field that would score two runners. NC State would get one more runner across the plate two batters later when a single to the left side of the infield brought in a runner.

The Wolfpack would add an insurance run in the eighth via a single through the right side of the infield that scored the runner from second. The Eagles would go quickly at the top of the ninth to end the game.

Up Next: The Eagles will return to action on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. for their home opener when they take on Sacred Heart at 3:00 p.m.
