RALEIGH, N.C. – Boston College Baseball (10-7, 2-2 ACC) fell to NC State (15-3, 1-0 ACC) on Friday afternoon, 4-2.

A.J. Colarusso started for the Eagles and went six innings while giving up three earned runs and striking out four. Cesar Gonzalez came on in relief and threw two scoreless innings, allowing one hit while striking out two.

The game started as a pitcher’s duel, with both pitchers allowing only one hit through the first three innings. Finally, in the fourth inning, the Wolfpack got one run across the plate. Colarusso struck out the first batter of the inning, but then NC State loaded the bases and proceeded to get one run across on a sacrifice fly to right field. He escaped runners on second and third by inducing a flyout to center field to end the inning.

In the fifth inning, the Wolfpack plated a second run when they lined a single down the right field line to score a runner from second. NC State would get two more in the sixth off a solo shot to lead off the inning, as well as an infield single following a triple after the home run.

Boston College would get its first run of the game when Ty Mainolfi brought in Julio Solier with an RBI double. They would plate one more run in the ninth off a sacrifice fly from Jace Roosien that would score Jack Toomey.

Up Next: The Eagles will return to action tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. for the middle game of the three-game series against the Wolfpack.
