CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Boston College baseball returns to action tomorrow for a weekend series at No. 10 NC State. The first game of the series will begin at 3:00 p.m. tomorrow, with the other games at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday and 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. All three games will be streamed live on ACCNX.
Record vs NC State
The Wolfpack holds a 37-18 series advantage over the Eagles, with NC State winning four of the last five games. The Eagles’ last game in the series came in 2023, when Boston College won 8-7 in 10 innings. Nick Wang led the Eagles’ offense that day with three RBIs on two home runs. Cameron Leary also had four hits that day, and Boston College clinched a series win in Raleigh.
Scouting the Wolfpack
NC State enters the weekend series ranked 10th nationally and with a 14-3 record, having dropped its midweek contest to Elon, 2-0. The Wolfpack has three hitters hitting over .400, including Wyatt Peifer and Chris McHugh. Peifer is hitting .423 with eight RBIs and three extra-base hits. McHugh is hitting .418 with six home runs, 22 RBIs, and five extra-base hits.
On Friday, A.J. Colarusso will take on Ryan Marohn of NC State. Colarusso is 1-0 this season in four starts with a 4.32 ERA and 18 strikeouts. In his last start against then-24th-ranked Miami, Colarusso went three innings, striking out two while giving up five earned runs. Marohn is 2-0 in three starts with a 1.32 ERA and 20 strikeouts. In his last start against Sacred Heart, he went four innings, striking out six while allowing one earned run, but didn’t earn the decision.
On Saturday, Tyler Mudd will face the Wolfpack’s Jacob Dudan. Mudd is 1-2 this year in four starts, while making an additional appearance in relief. Mudd has an ERA of 4.24 with 12 strikeouts. In his last start against Miami, Mudd went four innings with two strikeouts and four earned runs. Dudan this season has a 4-0 record in 4 starts, with a 1.11 ERA and 33 strikeouts. Dudan last started against Lafayette, where he went six innings, striking out 10 and giving up one earned run.
On Sunday, the Eagles’ starter will be Brady Miller, with the NC State starter to be announced. Miller has yet to earn a decision in two starts this season. He has a 1.80 ERA with seven strikeouts. In his last start against Miami, he went three innings with four strikeouts while giving up one earned run.
Last Time Out
The Eagles won their midweek game against UConn, 26-19. The Eagles were led by a career day from Wang, who went 3-4 with a career high three home runs and eight RBIs. The three home runs were the most in a single game since Chris Shaw in 2015, and his eight RBIs were the most in a single game since he did it against Villanova in 2023. Colin Larson also hit a home run, giving Boston College four in a game for the first time since they traveled to Clemson in 2024. The Eagles also received offensive contributions from Ty Mainolfi (4 RBIs) and three others with 2 RBIs, while BC had four players score four runs. Wang’s five trips across home plate were the most since Cameron Leary in 2024. The 26 runs were the most the Eagles had scored in a game since 2023, when they plated 24.
