Chapel Hill, N.C. – The Boston College softball team (5-11, ACC 0-1) fell 10-9 in a close battle with undefeated University of North Carolina (15-0, ACC 1-0) on Friday night to open up ACC play.

While the Tar Heels started the game with two home runs, the Eagles didn’t wait to join in. Emma Knight came up in the second inning with bases loaded and took it over the left field fence to take a 5-3 lead.

In the fourth, Kelly Colleran poked her first career hit through the right side of the field. Sammy Horn joined her with an RBI single as Knight came up to the plate to smash her second home run of the night and make it a 8-4 lead.

Horn singled again in the top of the sixth so Abby Ptak could swing for an RBI double to extend the lead once again.

UNC scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to walk off the game and remain undefeated.
