This year, most of New England will be dry with partly cloudy skies. However, a pair of passing storms to the north will bring a pesky breeze across each New England state, giving already cold temperatures an extra bite. So, you’ll certainly want to bundle up Thursday morning.

There may be a couple of spot flurries across Northern New England, but they should be isolated, brief, and light.

Some morning snow showers are possible across Northern New England while the rest of the region sees partly cloudy skies.

I’ll break down Thursday morning’s forecast by two regions — Southern New England and Northern New England, because the weather will be uniform for most areas. You can also check out the temperatures, below, for the early games (9 a.m. start time) and the later games (at noon), including the wind chills. Because, across the board, winds will be blowing around 10 to 15 mph from the south-southwest with gusts reaching 20 to 25 mph at times.

Most of the turkey trots will begin shortly after sunrise, from 7 a.m. to about 9 a.m., and it’ll be very cold out, with subfreezing wind chills, so you’ll want to bundle up.

Wind gusts across the region on Thursday may reach 20 to 25 mph.

Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut will see a mix of sun and clouds Thursday morning. Temperatures will slowly rise from the mid-30s to the low 40s around 9 a.m. and increase to the low and mid-40s by Thursday afternoon. However, a breeze will keep it feeling below freezing during the mid-morning games and hardly above freezing in the afternoon.

I don’t suspect any changes here except for a few more clouds across Western Mass. and Connecticut by noon.

Temperatures will be in the upper 30s or low 40s on Thursday morning.

Folks up north will see more clouds than sun Thursday morning, but there should be some slivers of sunshine breaking through across Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine.

It will be cold out, that’s for sure. Thursday morning will have air temperatures in the low to mid-30s everywhere except for along the Maine coast. The brisk wind will send wind chills plunging into the upper teens to low 20s. So for those of you brave enough to weather the cold, good luck and wear as many layers as you can. Just typing this makes me feel cold.

By Thursday afternoon, temperatures will improve to the upper 30s and low 40s, but wind chills will continue to remain below freezing for most areas, including coastal Maine.

A couple of snow showers are possible during the morning for areas within the Green and White Mountains, but there will be only a coating of snow expected, which would make the games a bit more festive.

For those brave enough to take on a Thanksgiving run or cheer folks on, you’ll have to weather the cold with many races happening at 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Temperatures will be in the low to mid-30s between those hours, but the wind chills will make it feel more like the 20s across the region — which is quite brutal to run in or watch a race.

Layers will be mandatory, but just remember, you’ll have a big meal in the hours after the race, so it’ll all be worth it!

Temperatures around 7 a.m. on Thursday will be in the low to mid-30s in Southern New England.
